HI DARLINGS {HAPPY NEW YEAR!}

HI DARLINGS {HAPPY NEW YEAR!}

Hi darlings…

Happy New Year to you, hope you had a wonderful one – whether you were out at a glamorous party or, like me, tucked up asleep in bed by 10.30pm and woken only briefly by the midnight fireworks/the dog barking like mad. It’s the first time I haven’t stayed up, either out or in {with Big Ben on the telly} for years. It was rather delicious actually, the whole New Year thing generally gets on my nerves anyway.

New Year’s Day has been quiet for us, we had a lazy morning and then headed over to relatives for a buffet lunch. The last of the season thankfully! All I want to eat is salad after weeks of mini quiches and frozen roulade.

I don’t know about you but I am so glad for January – I know that a lot of people find this time of year all a bit depressing for various reasons, but I really rather like how fresh it feels after a manic six or so weeks of Christmas celebrations. We squeezed in our first family holiday, then shopping, various social plans, another trip away, hosting friends and more family, and that was just in the run up to Christmas! I am also exhausted from accumulative bad sleep via a 6 month old so er, totally over it all.

Have you taken your decks down yet? Ours are all coming down tomorrow, I am tired of hoovering up pine needles and itching to clean and tidy everything away now.

Before I go on any further, yes I am back on the blog after a long break, all rather intentional as I’ve been getting to grips with being a new mum, and I just wasn't up to blogging. I think it’s important not to beat yourself up if you don’t fancy doing something in the moment - wait, and it will come in good time. The New Year feels like a really good time to start again, too.

 Apart from looking forward to getting our routine back {yes, although I am on maternity leave I still very much have one!} I am going to also take the opportunity whilst I am being a basic New Year, New Me cliche to set some goals. I don't believe in resolutions, they can make you feel like you've failed before you've even started, so I prefer to write a big list in January of my goals for the year / things I would like to do and achieve. I will probably write this over the next few days, while I am feeling very focused! I may turn it into a blog post as I expect having it published might motivate me even further.

Some of the areas I will be thinking about:

Home //

Areas that still need redecorating or replacing, as well as those that need refreshing or updating with new furniture or accessories, storage and organisation projects

Health //

An obvs area for new year, but I am so here for this. Thinking about some healthier habits, meal planning and possibly an activity goal such as a 5K.

Finance //

Looking at how we can save, be smarter with money, as well be kinder to the environment with the way we spend and consume. Christmas craziness always reminds me how we don't really need all the stuff we have, and that so much of what we have is plastic crap and landfill.

Family //

Things we would like to do as family with our girlie this year, new experiences, activities, holidays, and of course time and plans with friends and family alike.

Work //

Planning my return to work in 2019, what shape this will take, projects and opportunities.

I’m sure there’s more!

Enjoy the rest of your downtime – I have another post coming later this week on my birth experience {not too gory I hope!} and a recipe that I’ve been asked for a few times on Insta.

Happy New Year and here’s to a fab 2019.

Ceels x
